June 2009
The Other Half had a "heat attack" in April. Actually it was a ventricular fibrillation. Which required hospitalization.
They found the spot and 'killed' it to stop the irregular rythmn. The things that Ornish changes on the other hand has
not progressed in 4 years [ok so the other half cheated. We won't go into that. Not a lot of cheating but some
however what they were doing held the disease at bay which is good considering they project for stints and other things to
block right back up again in at least 6 months to a year]
Currently we are running back and forth to cardiac rehab. I'm exhausted. However we are doing well and the other
half did the dishes today [GO TEAM]. It's working.
April 14th
More have been added to both DG and DG Veg*n. I haven't added to the DG Vegetarian page because the DG Veg*n took over
for that. A lot hasn't been done because the lung infection that plagued me in Jan/Feb is back.
For the latest the Blog has it. Familyoven is setting up a blog and I like the controls much better than the poor version
tripod offers. Lets see what happens. All that will happen is the links will take you to the familyoven blog instead of
a tripod blog.
What should be in the works at some point [can you tell I don't feel good?] is a basic foods/food mixes/food storage recipe
area for both. With the rising costs of everything? We need to be able to plan ahead and while I was browsing thru the local
Emergency Essentials catalogue and mumbling to myself because it is not Vegetarian/Ornish I suddenly found some Vegetarian
options and lets face it the freeze dried Veggies are low fat so.. It got my intrest going again. The page won't be strictly
Ornish and it will be vegetarian on this site if I survive long enough to get the darn thing organized. Besides doing the
housekeeping I need to do on here and... Groan... Just keep breathing. Even if my doctor says the lung pain will be solved
if I don't. Ain't we glad he's a friend.
March 21
Tis Done. All recipes should be up or linked to. IF you cannot find a recipe via the links or on either site, give me
a yell. I might have missed it. Added Deep Fried tofu to the tofu page.
March 19
This site has been, by virtue of what I am using [Tripod's Trellix] to draw up the web pages, optimized for an 800 screen
because as Tripod says "That is the most used resolution"
Some of you like me, have a higher resolution. What we see is a space on the right side of the screen because of this.
Using Trellix, I cannot fix this otherwise I would have optimized for all resolutions as I did on my old sites which I coded
by hand.
However speed won over coding because I wanted to get the recipes up in a short period of time and Trellix lets me fix
the recipes and slap them up via cut and paste. It is also shows changed code in recipes so I can remove them if I missed
them in MC3 which hates bad coding. So Trellix which I don't normally use won. Hey it works.
I trust the space is not too distracting. I tried to make it a color that won't jar but rather be a bit restful. Like
a warm kitchen. I cannot customize the color as I like but they give me a large selection and I tried to pick good ones. They
will change for each graphics card. Browsers don't have a thing to do with it unless you use Lynx which doesn't display graphics.
So if some fool tells you use a different browser to change the color? They are lying to your ass. Hurt em.
March 13th
The vegetarian site rolled out with a few recipes. As this site was done, so will the other. I will be adding a LOT more
up to 287 from the old account. After that I will add as I would have published.
More to come. The link will be in the Navigation bar. DO NOT confuse the local site's vegetarian category with the main
site. The Main site will say De Gustibus' Veg*n [hey the other is long ok? Both Vegetarian and Vegan will be on it.]
Added Braised Seitan with Tomato Gravy
March 12th.
This site should be settled. All are posted or directed to but the drink recipes. I will add them later. I will also
continue to add recipes I would have posted elsewhere.
I am currenly working on the incarnation of the Vegetarian account I had. Right now I am doing set up. As soon as that
is done, I will post to the web with links on this site. I will finish putting up the recipes for that site as I did this
one. However currently, set up is not completed. It should be in a couple days.
If you have problems seeing with either let me know and I will see what I can juggle. As I said when I hit 20 megs, then
I'll look at subscribing to the pay account however at the moment I am not near there so there are ads. Hey, it's free.
What can I say. Free is good.
March 2008
I'm done with Zaar. Literally. All are in MC. So if you Zmail me or whatever? You lose. No answer. No warrenty on
those recipes. No support. No nothing. Scripps is Persona Non Grata in my cooking world.
Use the contact me page here ok? Or give a yell on Family Oven's Discuss.
Expect influx of recipes starting tomorrow because I don't have to fight with them to transfer into MC which hogged time
because of errors and codes. Now I can focus on this site.
YOO HOO Scripps? I didn't agree with your TOS. I stopped using your buggy site with recipes that do not display correctly
on the web view but does display correctly in print which you jerks couldn't bother to tell someone about. Which makes me
wonder what your FoodNetwork site displays if you did this there... Anyhow? Stuff it ok?
Feb, 2008
Not all recipes on site are from the site I am moving them from. Some have just been added such as the Hot Dagwood and
the Pittsburgh Hoagie. More will also be added. To see what is new always check the blog.
Ok using MC I can transfer the recipes easier. It will still take a while.
Also I finally got a brain. Many are on my old site at recipecircus which I cannot get into due to lost password and
changed email from many moons ago. I have linked sections with those recipes in them to the correct categories. I am letting
them on that site.
Click link to see those recipes. That site contains 3000 recipes. I have them saved to MC if anything happens to recipecircus
but it is stable and easy to read and use so I am not worried about them.
