5 cups flour plus or minus
1 cup sugar
1 T salt
1/4 pound Oleo [or butter]
2
yeast cakes or 2 envelopes
6 cups milk, scald
6 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup warm water to dissolve
the yeast
Mix the sugar, oleo and scaled milk and let cool a bit.
Add the
beaten eggs and 3 cups of flour. Beat well. Add the yeast water and then the salt. Add remaining flour and knead well.
Place in greased bowl, cover with damp towel and let rise in warm spot until double in bulk. Punch
down and let rise again. Roll and cut with doughnut cutter and let rise uncovered until nice and fat.
Fry
in hot fat. Dust with 10X or granulated sugar or if desired glaze.
The author notes that many schools
are delayed this Monday Morning because of snow. She states that Chad just told her Cindy is stuck down the lane in a four
foot snow drift. I must go lend a hand with the shoveling. We will assume she helped shovel Cindy out and had some hot chocolate
with her doughnuts later.
