Jessie's Key Lime Pie

from an article by Mrs. Judge Coldren.  Paper unknown but the one ad is for Latchford's Saw Sales and Service in Newport PA

5 cups flour plus or minus
1 cup sugar
1 T salt
1/4 pound Oleo [or butter]
2 yeast cakes or 2 envelopes
6 cups milk, scald
6 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup warm water to dissolve the yeast

Mix the sugar, oleo and scaled milk and let cool a bit.

Add the beaten eggs and 3 cups of flour.  Beat well.  Add the yeast water and then the salt.  Add remaining flour and knead well.

Place in greased bowl, cover with damp towel and let rise in warm spot until double in bulk.  Punch down and let rise again.  Roll and cut with doughnut cutter and let rise uncovered until nice and fat.

Fry in hot fat.  Dust with 10X or granulated sugar or if desired glaze.

The author notes that many schools are delayed this Monday Morning because of snow.  She states that Chad just told her Cindy is stuck down the lane in a four foot snow drift.  I must go lend a hand with the shoveling.  We will assume she helped shovel Cindy out and had some hot chocolate with her doughnuts later.
